Gucci

Why? It’s one of the five brands leading the trends.  Gucci purchases will hold value on the resale market and Alessandro Michele is also doing great collabs, like The North Face.  His recent hacker collab with Balenciaga was the first of it’s kind and launched quite a few copy cats (ahem Fendi x Versace?!) Beyond all of these factors, the Gucci collection clothing is well made, the accessories feel young and cool, even if the quality is sometimes lacking.  The Gucci runway and collections are also great inspiration for vintage shopping.  If you like the style but not the price tag, check their latest collection for ideas and pieces you can look for at your favorite vintage and thrift spots.

What to buy:  The men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, scarves, sunglasses, shoes and some of the bags… the classic GG padded style, known as the Marmont collection, everyone is carrying is over for me, as well as the GG belt that has been super overexposed.  I would focus on their great clothing, costume jewelry, more interesting bag shapes, fun shoe options and even the cosmetics collection.  The North Face collection is super fun, but very logo based.  If you are not so into the logo vibes, Gucci will probably be a pass for you.  Although there are a few pieces here and there with small GG logos in discreet places.    If you decide to go vintage Gucci, I would look specially for Tom Ford era Gucci, especially clothing!  There is great vintage  & secondhand out there and pretty much every bag is fair game.  I am still after a great pair of cat eye sunglasses from a few years back…

Where to buy it:   gucci.com has a pretty good selection, although several of the Ready To Wear items are only available in store.  Their website is pretty good at pointing you in the right direction to find something though.  You can also shop Gucci at Nordstrom, Net-a-porter, Saks Fifth Ave, Matches and Ssense.  For second hand, I love The Real Real & Vestaire Collective both men’s and women’s, and What Comes Around for bags and other fun accessories.
