Uniqlo
Living in NYC years ago, Uniqlo became my classic winter basics go-to. Puffer jackets and vests at great prices, cashmere and merino wool sweaters to keep me cozy and the wonder Jil Sander collaboration, I always shop Uniqlo when I need some classic basics. When the other puffer/options were too expensive for a client, I always ended up at Uniqlo. The knitwear is great and I even love the men’s shirting and tailoring. My favorite cashmere camel coat is a men’s Uniqlo classic, I always buy it in XL for the perfect oversized look. The Heat Tech line is awesome for base layers and people like me who are perpetually cold. Uniqlo has recently launched a recycled fabrics line that feels super modern and was developed by Swedish athletes for both fantastic form and sustainability factors.
What to buy? Down jackets, outerwear and coats, trenches, shirting and knits are always at the top of my list, as well as the Heat Tech collection for super cold winter base layers. Their collaborations are some of the best pieces available, make sure to check out J+ by Jil Sander for minimalism heaven, Ines de la Fressange for Celine/French vibes, Uniqlo U by Christopher Lemaire for more chic minimalist clothing Hermes vibes and JW Anderson for British classics. This White Mountaineering collab was pretty great too.
What to avoid? Printed tees and sweatshirts (I always end up donating them) and tricky fashion pieces from the collabs. Go for the classics from Uniqlo and their collab lines.
