Wardrobe Staple No 4 of 33: The Cut Offs

Some may argue, but I consider cut offs an absolute classic. I have them in white and various blues in both tight and loose, all high-waisted. And I will be adding black cut offs to my wardrobe as well. Cut off denim reminds me of naughty high school girls in the 50’s even though I am sure it’s more of a product of the 70’s. If you aren’t comfortable with a super short length, there are plenty of options on the market now of longer options. If you choose to go longer, keep the cut on the slimmer side so they don’t look sloppy. And I will repeat, go high waisted, only high waisted. If I am chopping off some old jeans, I measure 5 inches from the inseam and chop there. It always gives me the perfect length. You can also always layer bike shorts underneath if you want to rock shorter styles without exposing your legs.

I will always prefer Levi’s, and they have some great options from their 501 collection in many washes. Levi’s even have a secondhand market online now to buy great vintage cut offs! I love Wrangler cut offs as well. They are selling them on their website, but I would buy vintage made in USA wranglers on ebay and cut them off myself. If you don’t want to bother with all of that, the only “modern” denim brand I really like is Agolde. I think all of their shorts and washes are nice! If you are looking for Plus Size, I think Good American does a great job with Curve Denim.
