Wardrobe Staple no 32 of 33: The Long Skirt

The long skirt is an under rated necessity to any woman’s wardrobe. To me, it’s the most comfortable of any skirt and can also be the most flattering. With a cinched in waist and a great top, it can also be one of the sexiest. I love pairing mine with a silk shirt and statement belt or a tight turtleneck and sky high heels. The long skirt always gives me Joni Mitchell/ Saint Laurent vibes when done up and grunge vibes with chunky knits and tees when dressed down. I prefer to go for silk, but any natural fibered fabric will do! Length is up to you, whether you like the drama of a floor skimmer or the ankle revealing length to show off a good shoe. Solids and prints both do well on this classic piece, just remember to get a color way that goes well with your existing collection!

The two long silk skirts I have in my closet are both from Realisation. I adore The Joni and The Maria. Silk Laundry has fantastic options as well! They have a variety of lengths and cuts that suit everyone! I also love Reformation skirts, the prints are so sweet and vintage feeling. The romanticism of Love Shack Fancy always makes my heart flutter. Intermix has a great variety of maxi skirts in all fabrics and price points, from Boho to Minimalist vibes.
