Balenciaga

Demna Gvasalia îs redefining as we know in his tenure at Balenciaga. Making $1200 hoodies, cowboy tuxedo couture, and Crocs fashion, he recently presented his runway show in Paris as a red carpet mixed with celebs and models before showing a featurette collaboration with The Simpsons. Demna started Vetements with his brother about 10 years ago, and he was at Maison Martin Margiela before that. He cemented the classic status of the ugly sneaker, the dad jeans, and oversized fits. Balenciaga is consistent in it’s tongue-and-cheek sense of humor and brilliant product lineup, making it one of the most influential brands in fashion now. If you want to know the trends, simply look at the latest Balenciaga show. The interesting thing about that, is the lack of change in the product line up. The evolution of Demna’s Balenciaga has been slow and easy, with lots of carry overs of best sellers every season, which in so many ways is the ultimate rebellion against fast fashion.

While much of the Balenciaga collections are major trends, I would stick to pieces you can wear everyday, a great coat, a fabulous dress, a cozy hoodie and a pair of the ugly dad shoes are all on my top list from this brand. I also love the rehash of the Balenciaga bags made popular by Nicholas Ghesquire as well as the new bags Demna is creating for his own era.

Here are my favorite picks from the latest Balenciaga offering:
