Wardrobe Staple no 25 of 33: The Sweater
I truly believe Sweaters are a girls best friend. When fall leaves start to fall, I love reaching for my cozy cashmere bundle of sweaters. I love them so much I wore one to my wedding reception a few summers back. This post is specifically dedicated to the crew neck sweater, of which I have at least 5 in my closet. When full winter is in swing, I reach for my sweater collection everyday. I recommend going to with neutral-esque colors that will style well with your existing wardrobe or going the complete opposite direction and bright pop colors and patterns. The weights of the sweater may be varied to your liking, although I tend to gravitate toward a medium to heavy knit, I like how the thicker options lay on my body and drape with my trousers and jeans. Sweaters are also great to throw on over a summery dress to immediately winterize paired with tights. I also prefer a slightly oversized to very oversized fit for my crew necks, again for the draping when styling with a nice suit trouser or a mini skirt.
My number one favorite cashmere line is The Elder Statesman. The owner is a genius and everything is made to the highest quality. I am also pretty sure he restarted the tie dye trend a few years back with his over the top cashmere hand dyed sweaters. My other favorite knitwear line is from Victor Glemaud, a dear friend. I have three sweaters from his collections in my closet and counting. I love his fun take on knits. The sweater I layered over my mini dress at my wedding reception was from All Saints. They do great classic sweaters with a bit of fashion flair thrown in for good measure. The Recycled Cashmere from Everlane is fantastic as are the color options and silhouette selections at great pricing. For a well made straight up basic cashmere sweater, I recommend Naked Cashmere. Simple but timeless. Want to check out the COOLEST sweaters being created right now? Check out Bottega Veneta. She’s expensive but CHIC CHIC CHIC. For sweaters that are fashion forward but won’t break the bank, The Frankie Shop is it. All the cool girls rock the Frankie Shop knits and jackets.
