Wardrobe Staple no 24 of 33: The Trench

Rain or Shine, no coat or jacket could be chic-er or sexier than a Trench. I personally own three, and I always want another. Something about the drama and the idea of wearing it with just fancy knickers underneath. I would say to be sure to get a size that will layer nicely over your favorite sweater or even a jean jacket. I love a tench layered over basics like a moto leather and a sweatsuit. I go for Tan or Black as far as color is concerned due to their versatility, and if you are only going to have one trench, make sure it’s water friendly so you can actually wear it in the rain.

Balenciaga Trenches are SO fashion and Demna always has one in their line up. Uniqlo always has super chic trenches in their collaboration lines and I have purchased and worn these to death over the years. Uniqlo is fantastic if you are on a budget. Burberry is the TRENCH coat of all trench coats. I believe they designed the first real luxury trench and I believe it’s an heirloom level wardrobe item worth investing in. Also, look for these on the consignment market as they never go out of style! Zara has some killer collaboration Trenches and some from their regular collection too. Kassl Editions are now the coolest of cool in trenches, I have one on my most wanted list. Free People has easy, slouchy trenches. Everlane has a super simple and modern feeling trench for a good price.
