The Pencil Skirt
To me there is nothing sexier than a pencil skirt! It brings out my inner dominatrix and always makes me appreciate my female figure! At least one good pencil skirt is essential for every closet, choose a color that goes well with your personal palette, I have always gone black, or black lace. The trend at the moment with pencils is a longer midi length, which creates a fabulous line on the leg, especially when said pencil has a nice slit. I love a pencil with a heel always, I don’t think I would or have ever worn it with a flat. Stiletto is a my first go to, but I also love a wedge/chunky heeled boot. When I was a fashion editor attending the shows, I would always pair a good band tee shirt with my pencil and some Rick Owens thigh highs. This look was so comfortable for me, it basically became my fashion week uniform. I love a little stretch and compression in my pencil skirts, for my fluctuating sizes and for my comfort. A pencil is always fantastic with a blazer and a belt, a great thin turtleneck sweater or a nice silky camisole top. I also love it with a super casual tank or a button down shirt. So many options, slip her on when you want to feel your inner female power at the forefront.
Saks, Intermix, Net-A-Porter, FarFetch, Ssense, and My Theresa all have great varieties of designer pencil skirts. Khaite NY is making incredible pencils, as well as my beloved Bottega and the ever present Gucci. Commando is making a great faux leather option. Rouge makes my favorite affordable printed pencils and Zara is killing it with the budget friendly updated pencil shapes. If you feel like going resale designer, The Real Real has a huge selection of pencils. The most budget concerned will love Asos and they’re many options available.
