Why? Well, this is the number one trending sneaker right now other than the Nike Jordans MA-1 and Air Force ones. New Balance basically invented the Dad Sneaker that Balenciaga has taken to new heights. Influencers worldwide have turned to New Balance instead of Balenciaga in the last few years and the ongoing Aimee Leon Dore New Balance collab is on FIRE. There are Made in USA New Balance available as well as Made in the UK, which I love, and no other sneaker company is doing. New Balances were an integral part of the iconic Steve Jobs uniform that most streetwear brands and influencers will chase forever. They are hella comfy and hella ugly, which is the point.

How? My favorite way to sport these sneakers would be with a suit and or tailored pant. They are unexpected and will add automatic cool to any suit or tailored trouser that can feel to serious and stuffy. I also love them with a classic jean and a mock neck tee ala Steve, matching sweatsuit and legging/sports bra vibe.

What to buy? Any shoe (even the weirdo modern running shoes) in any color way goes here. The Aimee Leon Dore 550 is def the most trendy and flex-y. The 990v5 & 530 are also major influencer stars, as well as the classic 993. I am loving the 57/40 (which I just bought for myself for Christmas), 997’s and the 327’s and 237’s are fire as well. I also think the Fresh Foam options are great, if you want something more modern and the most comfortable, favored by both Nurses and long distance runners. Really you cannot go wrong with any shoe choice at New Balance. Also, don’t forget the men’s department for more/better color options, but only if you are not actually running in them. Stay away from the clothing. Go for colors that match your closet’s color scheme.
