Norma Kamali

Why? Because this woman is a legend and so are her clothes. The sleeping bag coats, the stretch jersey dresses, the lame, the swim.  She somehow makes comfy clothing incredibly sexy and cool at the same time.  I discovered her in the 90’s and she’s been designing since the 70’s.  She was at Studio 54.  She dressed the most glamorous women AND men of the seventies. She’s a self-care guru touting the benefits of olive oil and Pilates since before it was cool.  And even though her clothes are sexy, they always have a sense of humor, joyousness and ease to them. The pricing is fabulous with most items coming in under $200, with the exception of the Sleeping Bag coat and some other more complicated pieces.

What?  The swim.  The Dresses.  The Jumpsuits.  The leggings. The Sleeping Bag Coats. Get it all.  Make sure to dial in your size because the stretchy fabrics can look saggy and sad if worn too big.  She makes Body Con fun and funky.

How? The dresses, jumpsuit and other clothes for work, parties and date night.  And the swim is unbeatable for the pool or beach.

Where? Norma Kamali’s website is a wonderland of fashion and her personal philosophies on life.  The brand is also carried amongst loads of retailers like FWRD, Revolve, Net-a-porter, Matches, My Theresa.  Everyone has a slightly different buy and color option. It’s also nice to see items styled differently amongst the online retailers.
