Wardrobe Staple no 30 of 33: The Moto Jacket.

The motorcycle jacket is now a year round wardrobe love of mine. Whether you go for a classic Moto from Schott or Vanson or go for a killer vintage find, this jacket makes any outfit automatically cool. I love it in the summer and on the plane as well, since leather breathes properly, it makes for the perfect year round jacket. I also love layering it under a bigger overcoat in the winter when you need extra layers. It looks particularly great layered under a big, cashmere tailored coat. I own this jacket in a true to size fit, an oversized fit and a cropped fit. I even have a Helmut Lang 90’s pearl white one. Although, if you are only adding one moto to your closet, I would go for the classic black or brown leather variety.

Schott is one of the few leather companies still making their moto jackets in the USA. The Perfecto is their super famous, old school fit. I also love their cafe racer style jacket. Vanson is another one of the old school USA leather jacket brands, more into the racing side of things, and they have a regular collab with Supreme. Langlitz is the other USA classic moto jacket company and they still do incredible custom orders. On the slightly more affordable side, you have good options from All Saints, for more of a fashion fit. And never forget Ebay! You can still find great vintage motos on Ebay, look for Made in USA, especially old Harley and Buco jackets. I also live in my Understated Leather Belle Sleeve Moto. Understated Leather is made in Texas, the moto options are *chefs kiss, and they have even added vegan leather!
