Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens have been in my life since elementary school. As grunge appeared on the scene and my personal style started to edge toward “waver”, these boots were a necessity in my uniform of rebellion. The history of this company is almost 100 years old with the air wave sole being invented in 1945 by a German soldier. The shoes and boots started off as the classic working man and woman’s footwear option, worn by postmen, tradesman and factory workers. In the 1960’s Dr. Martens were adopted by the rebels of the cultural and music scene in England. Pete Townsend of The Who wore them and the rest is history. 1970’s Punks, wavers, teenage girls with paint brushes in the 1980 and 90’s grunge icons all adopted this comfy and durable boot as their footwear of choice. Now to me, Docs add a tough edge to any look. I love all of their styles from the classic 8-eye & oxfords to the Chelsea boots and Maryjanes, it’s easy to have a closet full of Dr. Martens. Their collab game is also on point, so definitely sign up for their email lists to keep from missing great exclusives. Basquiat & Rick Owens are among the recent collaborations so these limited editions are not to be missed!
