Wardrobe Staple no 14 of 33: The Slip Dress
I love slip dresses so much that I got married in one. In high school, I found my first slip dress at a thrift store and there was no looking back. In my teen years, slip dresses were the only feminine items in my closet other than a pleated mini skirt. I love styling my slip dresses both feminine with heels and sandals as much as I love styling them very masculine with combat boots and a motorcycle jacket. When shopping for your slip dress, choose a length most comfortable for you! Above the knee, knee length, below the knee and ankle are all good lengths, and I own them all. Mid length, just below the knee, is my comfort zone for when I want to look sexy but feel comfortable. Above the knee I love for a date night when I want to turn up the volume. Ankle length is great for more formal occasions. I prefer spaghetti straps or smaller straps for the top with little or no lace. Lace makes the slip dresses feel a little bit more like you stepped out of the boudoir. And a little more vintage.
All of my silk slip dresses at the moment are from Realisation Par. My new obsession and my next slip dress will be from Silk Laundry. They have slip dresses in every color imaginable! The slip dress I got married in was from Nili Lotan, and she has gorgeous options in various shapes and lengths. For more of a designer fashion take, check the selection on FarFetch!
