Wardrobe Staple no 15 of 33: The Denim Jacket

Ohhhhh Denim Jacket… how do I love thee!! I have so many denim jackets in so many colors and silhouettes. Jean jackets are pretty much my only summer outerwear go to as it pairs perfectly with a girly dress or a tee shirt and shorts. In the winter, I LOVE a jean jacket styled as a layer under a puffer or heavy cashmere tailored coat. Denim jackets add the perfect hint of masculine and downright Americana to any look. I love all of the shapes they come in! It’s nice to have one tight fitting version, but I LIVE for a true oversized boyfriend cut as well. The crop denim jackets are very of the moment and look great with high waisted trousers or layered over a dress to show a curvy waist. If you go for colored denim, try a color that is prevalent in your wardrobe, so you can easily color block. Same goes for choosing a wash, it’s nice to match it up with your favorite jeans for a full cowboy tuxedo! Also for chillier weather, the sherpa lined options are fantastic!

My absolute favorite denim jackets are Made in the USA Levi’s and Wranglers from Ebay. If you want new, Wrangler has great classic cuts for $49. Never underestimate Levi’s either, the mens and Womens options are both killer at various price points, size ranges and colors. The Levis Secondhand market has a fabulous selection as well! Free People has great mid price point fashion denim jackets in more boundary pushing silhouettes. And Ralph Lauren and RRL has made it’s name in great denim with jackets being no exception! For fashion/designer jackets I always head to Far Fetch. Saint Laurent has killer options, like this. And I love the playfulness of this jacket from Area. This Balenciaga denim jacket also makes me drool.
