Wardrobe Staple no 16 of 33: Biker Shorts

When biker shorts made a come back a few years ago, I was so stoked. Nothing says 1980’s-90’s better than a good pair of biker shorts! I love the nostalgia of the silhouette, and of course, the comfort. Bikers have become my go-to bottom of choice in the summer. Paired with a crew neck sweatshirt ala Princess Di, or under a super short dress, having at least one pair of bikers in your closet is imperative. When shopping for bikers, there are a few things to think about. The first is what length is most comfortable to you. I like a longer biker to hide cellulite and keep from cutting my leg into a sausage shape with a high waist, especially if I am pairing it with a short/cropped top. I like a shorter biker, mid thigh-ish, if I am wearing an oversized top or wearing them under a mini skirt/dress. Next is the fabric, choose it based on how much support you want. Also if the biker is more of a cotton jersey, it may show sweat easier, not always great if you are using them to actually work out.

My favorite pair of bikers in my closet at the moment are Beyond Yoga. The Space Dye collection is everything and available in so many colors! 7 Days Active is a new brand I am loving out of Denmark. Free People has several variations and fun treatments to the classic biker. Carbon 38 probably has the biggest selection of bikers. Brandy Melville has a great pair of $18 bikers. I also love Sporty & Rich bikers and have a pair myself. Mate The Label offers organic cotton options, and Setactive has three different types of fabrics, loads of color and sizes, and a nice medium price point. Skims has a acid wash version, and every short I have from them is super comfy. And the fanciest biker award def goes to Wolford, the seaming and texture options are pretty great.
