Wardrobe Staple no 22 of 33: The Jumpsuit.

Whether you go tight and sexy or oversized and masculine, a jumpsuit is needed in every wardrobe. Great for work, date night, a party or running errands, the jumpsuit makes getting dressed so easy because you only have to think about accessories. I have owned a jumpsuit in pretty much every fabric over the years, suiting wool, silk, cotton, denim, love them all.

HOW TO STYLE: For day, with a great sneaker or boot, tote bag or backpack and your favorite sunglasses. I like to stay way from bandanas with this look so the look doesn’t go too costume, unless of course you are really working on a ranch. For night, I love a jumpsuit with high heel sandals, pumps or boots, a shiny clutch, big earrings and a waist cinching belt. Glamorous hair and makeup will also play well with this super fem take on a masculine basic!

HOW TO SHOP: Figure out if you want to go tight or oversized, I love both. For tight, look for stretch in the fabric and be sure the length in the torso is good for your body. Nothing worse than a camel toe. For oversized, go one or two size larger in women’s, or size down one in mens. I almost always wear my jumpsuits short, so don’t be scared of a cropped length just above the ankle. Short sleeve is good if you like to layer in the winter, remember to get it a little big for the layers if you will be wearing year round. If you are buying a mens jumpsuit, take it to your tailor and have them slim up the legs and arms as well as the waist. As far as color is concerned, beware of the light colors, unless your cool with them getting dirty!

WHERE TO SHOP: Silk Laundry has gorgeous silk/linen jumpsuits. Free People has every type of jumpsuit under the sun and mostly $200 or less. Dickies has my favorite affordable jumpsuit options. Go womens for a more fem cut and mens for great oversized. Ebay is great for a vintage military or old school workwear find. I have also scored European velvet jumpsuits there! Net-a-Porter has fabulous designer options like The Row & Gucci, as well as some more affordable options. Carhartt WIP also has a nice jumpsuit and I always love their updated takes on Carhartt classics.
